Session 4 Reflection

Well...I think "Bubbl.us" is useful because usually, people can only draw mind-map in PowerPoint or other painting software. We couldn't underestimate how great can the app do since users do not need to draw lines, to think of the design in advance, or to put the text boxes in different layers.

All things can be generated in a very short time, the most exciting thing is that teachers can open the application in lessons, hide the branches and text boxes, and then ask the students to open the text boxes or drag and drop them just like playing other interactive guessing games. Indeed, I would like to try it out in a General Studies lesson first because the main emphasis of the annual school plan this year is to teach students to use different tools for their self-learning. The great function of this application can match with the worksheets designed for G.S. lessons perfectly. Thus, I attempt to try it in my G.S. teaching first.

*** The photos above shows the real situation in a G.S lesson. In that lesson, my students  were really excited and they said they had never seen a "moving" mind-map before!

The other application, Quizlet, impressed me a lot in session 4. I think it is tailor-made for teachers because it is easily operated and its functions are variable and somehow magical; teachers just need to put down a list of words and definitions, various sets of learning materials and games will be automatically generated for them. Listening, reading and typing exercises are included in the quizzes. With the same set of vocabulary, I suggest that teachers can use its different exercises at the beginning of each lesson so as to briefly revise the vocabulary with students . The students must be very excited and looking forward to this kind of "revision" in any lessons.
